Groundbreaking Leader in Medicine, Coaching and Speaking

When Dr. Elsie Koh enters a field, she hits the metaphorical ball right out of the park. One of the first women in interventional radiology, when only 1% of doctors in the field were women, Elsie Koh, MD, EMHL (Executive Master in Healthcare Leadership) who is Medical Director, Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Regional Medical Officer, and Medical Advisory Board member at Azura Vascular Care in Woodland Park, NJ, (the only woman leader among 70 offices nationwide) went on to champion other doctors and grow three practices from scratch.


Honored for pioneering work in her region, as a Physician of the Year Finalist in the NJ Biz Magazine Healthcare Hero Awards, Dr. Koh was acknowledged for forging ahead in a male-dominated field, despite even other doctors trying to steer her towards a specialty more traditional for women. She was recognized for her leadership and excellence in interventional radiology, her devotion to patient comfort, and her commitment to staff growth.

Dr. Koh is a six-time winner of a Patient’s Choice Award and a triple year winner of Compassionate Doctor Recognition, from She believes in a “culture of safety,” and has become a role model to her staff, other doctors and practices.  Hardly anyone leaves her practice for another job unless promoted. She is very interested in encouraging doctors throughout the country to adopt a more humanistic approach.


She is the first doctor in New Jersey and the greater New York City region to use a minimally invasive innovation for patients with end-stage renal disease requiring vascular access, outside of a hospital.  She is also the first doctor to specifically implement this new Ellipsys procedure in New York and New Jersey, one of the first minimally invasive options in 50 years, for patients with kidney failure. She additionally is teaching other doctors how to do the same. Dr. Koh led a scientific session at the national Society of Interventional Radiology meeting on this device for endovascular fistula creation, a method that will forever change and improve the quality of care for critically ill dialysis patients.


A lover of learning, teaching, inspiring and leading, within and outside of medicine, Dr. Koh has additionally been recognized in the top 1 percent of Proctor Gallagher Consultants. A student in how our mind influences our identity and possessing the desire to help others achieve their dreams, Dr. Koh teaches about the mind-body connection and the impact on our relationships, jobs, time, money, freedom and health, guiding others to a positive, life-altering mindset.


Dr. Koh, whose medical expertise has been quoted to millions in national media, including, Reader’s, radio and  TV, received her medical degree from Tufts University in Boston and her Executive Master in Healthcare Leadership (EMHL) degree from Brown University in Providence, where she also received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She completed her Interventional Radiology training at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
